How do I wash selvedge denim?
Best recommendations are to always hand wash for best results! First, fill a large tub with warm to hot water (enough to wash what you need do not overfill!) Fill it with a cap-ful of light detergent or castille soap, and lightly agitate clothing and let soak in soap water for at least 30 minutes. Promptly remove pants and lightly ring dry once you feel they have been thoroughly cleaned. (Repeat first steps if not thorough enough) And once dry enough to the touch but still obviously damp, you may hang to dry or put it on a low heat, low spin cycle in the dryer if absolutely necessary. Following these steps are very important to maintaining both denim and structure for future wear. Please only wash when absolutely necessary, my rule of thumb is if they stink; they got one more wear in them lol.

Due to a numerous amount of factors including difficulty in sourcing, import costs, actual manufacturer restraints and procedures, and many different things included. Japanese selvedge denim in particular is a very sought after and expensive denim. Many companies like Evisu, Momotaro, Iron heart, and many other brands offer selvedge denim at a very luxurious price.
